About Us
Chef Huy came to the United States in 1989 and his family opened a Chinese restaurant in 1994. In 2000, Huy started his career in Japanese and sushi cuisine at Fuji Sushi Bar. Huy was trained by one of Fuji’s finest chefs. In 2007, Huy was promoted to Head Chef at Fuji. He left in 2009 to help a friend open Flying Fish Sushi Bar.
During his time at Flying Fish, Huy continued to polish his fine art in sushi and trained many up-and-coming established chefs. With more than 20 years of experience combined in the hospitality business, Chef Huy and his former partner opened Akira Sushi Bar on February 25th, 2012.
Chef Huy now owns and operates Akira Sushi Bar as the head chef. He oversees all aspects of the business including chef training, management operation, and menu design. As Chef Huy desires to deliver first-class taste to all his customers and remain on the leading edge of his craft, he continues to study and refine his skills and shares this ever-increasing knowledge, as a true mentor, with the Akira Sushi Bar team.

Really great sushi selection here. I tried the Owasso roll and it was super tasty. From the moment we walked in, the girls at the front desk, our waiter and everyone who worked there were all very friendly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the sushi tastes fresh. I was just sad that the Uni had ran out, maybe we can try it next time.

You can't beat this place in all of Green Country for great sashimi and sushi. Also the prices are amazing, $10 for toro I couldn't believe, and they're generous with portions. Great sake menu too!

The ambiance is great. I enjoy sitting at the sushi bar watching them make all the rolls. The lucky cat angle is my favorite seat. The picture menu is helpful for newcomers. The food is always fresh and delicious. Their sushi rice is perfection; not too overpowering so you can enjoy all the yummy things inside the roll. Friendly service. Hands down my favorite sushi place in the area.

Our servers name was Philip and he was amazing! Great atmosphere, good music, awesome food. It was my friends 16th birthday and it was really an awesome one. 5 star restaurant in my book. If you are craving FRESH sushi, here's the place to go. Owasso really lucked out when Akira came to town. I've been coming here for 12 years. Plenty of seating, always clean, staff always have a great attitude with customers, always delicious!
